Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year

A new school year has begun and the Central Florida MATHCOUNTS committee is now planning for the 2012 Chapter Competition. Registration for the 2011-2012 MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is officially open! Consider joining both the Competition and Club Programs so that your students can enjoy matching math skills against their peers as well as develop problem-solving skills in a collaborative setting through fun and engaging activities! You can download your FREE copy of the 2011-2012 MATHCOUNTS School Handbook (with answers) right now! The MATHCOUNTS School Handbook has over 300 math problems written to the NCTM standards for grades 6-8 and is designed to build critical thinking skills in middle school students.

2011 Competition Results

Thanks to more than 40 volunteers, generous sponsors and a hard-working committee, the Central Florida MATHCOUNTS 2011 competition on February 19 at Olympia High School was a great success with over 330 Mathletes participating from 39 schools around Central Florida.The top 4 teams and top 5 individuals in the chapter competition represented the chapter in the state competition in Orlando on March 25 and are:

Southwest Middle School, coached by Jane Ice, was the most improved school from the previous year’s competition.

From those representing the Central Florida chapter, Team Sanford Middle placed 3rd, Individual Kyle Gettig, from Sanford, placed 3rd and Individual Andrew Kwon, from Sanford, placed 8th in the state competition on March 25th.
